4 Aug 2026, near Dori (Séno, Burkina Sahel): an IED hit a supply convoy for the Essakane gold mine, killing about 10 soldiers and wounding about 15. Survivors told RFI that soldiers then stopped and beat passengers on the road and killed villagers in their fields at Alkoma and at Sambonaye (5 km away), accusing them of complicity. Survivors count at least 48 dead. This is not independently confirmed; the army and government have not responded, and a security source confirmed only the convoy attack. The IED was not claimed. Fits the pattern HRW has documented for the FDS/VDP.
