Discord channel ‘Featured: Active Events / 🟠west-africa-sahel’ (#west-africa-sahel) on the server ‘Faytuks News [OSINT]’, the community of the Faytuks News OSINT aggregator. Channel: discord.com/channels/1108138416660557926/1250536083956170815. Its topic covers West Africa, the Sahel, CAR and Sudan, so roughly a fifth of the traffic is outside this knowledge base’s scope (mostly CAR). It is an aggregator: a handful of members paste X links or quote press articles (RFI, Reuters, BBC, Jeune Afrique, Radio Ndeke Luka), and FaytuksBot re-posts the X link with the tweet text, a machine translation and the media. There is no original reporting. The curation adds little verification; members’ only checks are asides (‘not sure if he’s just making things up’). Reliability is therefore the reliability of the upstream account, graded separately below; claim tags from this channel carry the upstream account’s letter.

Coverage: 1–9 Aug 2026 only

Only messages from 1–9 Aug 2026 were reviewed; 9 Aug – 20 Oct 2026 is not covered here.

Origin: Community aggregator (Faytuks News; volunteer posters + FaytuksBot)

Grade (02 Source Grading Method)

  • Admiralty reliability: C · Score: 55% · Split: wire & press relays: 75%; X monitor relays: 52%; party-claim relays (JNIM, FAMa, Africa Corps): 23%. Fast (often within an hour of the upstream post), and the press relays are solid. Never cite the channel itself: cite the upstream post, graded by account. Claims phrased ‘X claims’ are relayed accurately, but they keep the party’s credibility.

Coverage gap

  • Only 1–9 Aug 2026 is covered (last message reviewed: 9 Aug 09:37). 9 Aug – 20 Oct 2026 has not been reviewed.

Mix of the 1–9 Aug traffic

  • Of 107 substantive (non-chat) items, about 39% are wire or press relays, 42% are X monitoring accounts and 19% are party claims (‘JNIM claims…’, FAMa communiqués as relayed, @TheAfricaCorps). The remaining 35 messages are member chat.
  • Most frequent upstream accounts (unique posts): @KargnHasret 18, @RFI/@RFIAfrique 8, @BrantPhilip_ 4, @abousaib 4, @oumaragg 3, @Walid_Leberbere 3, @fabsenbln 3, @Borrowed7Time 3, @MedLilly1 2, @TheAfricaCorps 2.

Upstream account grades

  • @KargnHasret: C · 53% · 18 posts. 15+8+8+12+10. Named Turkish Sahel watcher. Mostly faithful one-line relays of ‘JNIM claims’ and FAMa communiqués; 2 hits of 5 checks (N’Guigmi 17 killed, San attack); ISWAP-shura ‘ISS report’, Dargo and Djibo-posts claims untraced.
  • @RFI: B · 75% · 8 posts. Desk grade (see 02 Source Grading Method); incl. @RFIAfrique. Its San and Alkoma reports were matched by AFP and regional press.
  • @BrantPhilip_: C · 55% · 4 posts. 15+8+8+15(capped)+10. N’Guigmi hit; Dankassari 21 killed found only in METIS (citing Zagazola Makama), partial; convoy build-up untraced but consistent with the later Kidal operation. Matches the desk grade.
  • @abousaib: C · 52% · 4 posts. 15+12+8+7.5+10. Burkinabe account, openly hostile to the junta. Alkoma reprisal killings were a hit (RFI, two days later); Dargo, Sollé and Bobo-Dioulasso gunfire untraced.
  • @Walid_Leberbere: D · 47% · 3 posts. 10+12+8+7.5+10, provisional (n=3). Pro-Azawad framing. ‘JNIM took the San camp’ is partial (AFP: temporarily occupied); Bambou drone strike (7 civilians) untraced.
  • @MedLilly1: D · 47% · 2 posts. 10+12+8+7.5+10, provisional (n=2). Pro-Azawad activist (‘state terrorism’). Kidal strikes happened (FAMa itself announced them) but the civilian-target claims and the Tinzaouaten migrants strike are untraced.
  • @oumaragg: F · 40% · 3 posts. Provisional; too little checkable. Convoy sizes (250 / 400+ vehicles) and Kidal cemetery strikes untraced; anti-junta framing (‘Russian mercenary aircraft’).
  • @fabsenbln / Borrowed7Time: F · n/a · 6 posts. Flight trackers (registrations, ICAO hex codes). Not spot-checked here; each claim is checkable against ADS-B Exchange history. Treat the aircraft ID as data, the ‘mission’ as their inference.
  • @TheAfricaCorps: D · 35% · 2 posts. X mirror of Africa Corps (official channel); same grade.
