FAMa and Africa Corps re-entered Kidal ~6 Oct 2026 after the FLA withdrew under Russian air strikes, with no major ground battle reported. African Initiative frames it as a 1–7 Oct ‘liberation’. The FLA calls it a temporary pull-back. Preceded by FAMa/Africa Corps air and drone strikes on Tinzaouaten and the Algerian border (4–5 Oct; Russian channels cite Geran-type drones and an Akıncı) and FAMa’s chief of staff arriving at Anéfis (4 Oct). The Africa Corps channel claims a 450 km advance from Gao with GATIA and ‘assault units entering from multiple directions’; other accounts, including pro-Russian ones, say there was no fighting in the city.
