Origin: Russia (MoD / Africa Corps press service)
Grade (02 Source Grading Method)
- Admiralty reliability: D · Score: 35% · Split: own-forces activity: 50%; casualty & enemy claims: 15%. Use it to learn what Russia wants to be seen doing (new systems: Lancet, FPV detachments, AGS-17/ATGM training) and as confirmation of its own presence at a place. Never use it for enemy casualties.
Editorial slant
- Party propaganda. Every armed opponent is ‘terrorists of the FLA and JNIM coalition’ (the FLA is always paired with al-Qaeda); civil-affairs content (children, medics, mosque repairs); no own losses ever reported. Unnamed locations and undated videos dominate.
Track record (spot-checks)
- HIT (own movement): Kidal operation 1–7 Oct with GATIA. The entry is corroborated, but the ‘assault units entered from multiple directions’ framing conflicts with reports of no fighting (t.me/TheAfricanCorps/2674).
- HIT (own movement): fuel-tanker escorts (2583) are consistent with independent reporting of escorted convoys under the JNIM blockade; Departamente reports a 980-tanker convoy reaching Bamako on 6 Sep.
- MISS (casualties): Ségou, 28 Sep, ‘up to 30 terrorists liquidated’ (2652). Conflict Monitor (relayed by Sahel Monitor/299) notes only two bodies were shown, and JNIM claimed it repelled the advance north of Niono.
- OMISSION: no mention of the Kaka ambush (7 Sep, ≥4 Africa Corps killed per RFI) or of losses at Dioura.
- UNVERIFIABLE: almost all strike claims (‘field camp destroyed’, Lancet and FPV hits) are undated and unlocated.
