From 25 Apr 2026, coordinated FLA and JNIM attacks hit Kati, Bamako (airport), Gao, Sévaré, Mopti and Kidal, the biggest offensive since 2012. Defence minister Sadio Camara was killed by a car bomb in Kati. Kidal fell; FAMa and Africa Corps withdrew from Kidal, Aguelhok (May; re-garrisoned by Jul), Tessalit, Tessit, Ber and Léré. ISSP grabbed Labbezanga and probed Ménaka. Bamako called it a coup attempt and arrested soldiers and opposition figures (e.g. Oumar Mariko).
